Welcome To Karis Kids
Karis Kids is an initiative, started in January 2007, which brings hope to children orphaned by AIDS by strengthening the capacity of local families to care for them. At present we are working in Uganda, but our hope is that we will have future openings in other countries.
“God sets the lonely in families” Ps 68.5-6
Rather than leave these children without the necessities of life that we take for granted, such as food, medical care and education, we integrate them into and support them within adoptive families. We aim to provide continuous support for the whole family –with relationship, opportunity, finance, encouragement and prayer. We are also starting community projects in the slum areas where these families live, in order to bless the whole community.
Karis Kids links family to family and
church to church.
We aim to link up churches in the UK with churches in Uganda to partner together in caring for the orphaned children. Within those linked churches, we link up family group to family. Karis Kids supports a full time project leader, Ketrah Turyakira, who administers the project in Kampala and oversees local community workers who visit every family. The majority of our families live in the slums in Kampala with dependents of their own.
