Summer Celebration

On 7th September we hosted the One Day Celebration at Nakasero Primary School, Kampala. (The Summer Celebration runs every two years, on alternate years to the Summer Camp.)

This was a wonderful time of gathering, learning, worship, games, and eating! 159 students attended from all six of our linked churches, accompanied by four of the linked church ministers.

The theme for the day was: “Be Holy for I am Holy” (1 Peter 1:15)

The Day’s Events

Preaching

Reverend Canon Geoffrey Byarugaba (Diocesan coordinator for missions and evangelism) was invited, along with Ruth Prossie Owino (Diocesan coordinator for planning, health and social services transformation).

Rev Geoffrey spoke from Psalm 144:12, encouraging the children to grow in all aspects of life so that they might glorify God and enjoy Him forever.

Praise & Worship

Zion Worship Band lead the praise and worship.

Competition skit

Each of the churches presented a skit to dramatise their interpretation of being holy.

Ketrah was delighted to award joint winners: St Peter’s Wandegeya and St Peter’s Nagaru — with a cake to share!

Bible study

During the time of reflection and bible study, Daniel was chosen as an exemplary character as he was young, like our students, at the time of his challenges in exile in Babylon.

[Left] Charles spoke to those aged 12 to 15. [Right] Elon spoke to those aged 16 and above.

Food + fun

The children also enjoyed a welcoming breakfast, time for fun and games, and a buffet luncheon.

Supported by Karis students!

Special thanks goes to Karis’s own Dennis Senabulya who took these photos. He is currently studying fashion and design at the YMCA. It was also fitting that the nurse in attendance was also a former Karis student, having completed his nursing training last year.

Everyone is now looking forward to Summer Camp 2024!
